Well done to all the Slaney Olympic Men and Women who lined out today to represent the club in the County Senior Cross Country in Ballytrent House, hosted by St Pauls AC. With the ground wet and sloppy, conditions underfoot were challenging in places.
First off at 12.00 were the ladies, with a strong field of runners consisting of Mary Gorham, Esther O Leary, Kelly Long, Siobhan O Shea, Sarah Walsh, Maura Neville, Valerie Murphy, Gosia Szymura, Gretta Roberts Tyrell, Margaret Cahill and Mag Dunphy. The Ladies team put in a heroic performance to clinch Team Bronze on a score of 50 points just ahead of DMP on 53 points. Well done ladies, enjoy your well deserved night out tonight.
Next up was the Men’s 10k race, which consisted of 4 laps of the challenging course. Billy Reck was first home and led the way for the men to win Team Bronze. Running today for Slaney was Billy Reck, David Kehoe, Dave Barron, Brian Maher, Brendan Dillon, Austin Codd, John Foley, Paul Murphy, Ger Murphy, Bobby Redmond, Jessie O Connor & Fergus Murphy..
