United Striders were the hosts for the postponed Mr Oil County Novice Road Races held on Friday night last in Camross, Co Wexford. The distance for the Ladies race was 3K with 36 Ladies taking to the start line at 7.00 sharp and in just a little over 11.33 minutes later the winner Katie Wilson from DMP crossed the line in first place. Slaney Olympic Mary Gorham was next lady home to secure Silver medal in 12.03 and together with Katey Gregan, Esther O Leary and Maura Neville secured Team Gold for the ladies team again to make it 4 Team Gold Novice Wins in a row. Also running strong for Slaney was Aoife Kavanagh, Sarah Walsh Byrne, Gosia Szymura and Ann Sharkey.
Directly after the Ladies race, the Mens 6K race started with 54 runners taking part. First home for Slaney was Will Doyle in 21.40, followed by Colin Garry, Padraig Coone and Jessie O Connor who ran strong to secure Team Bronze for Slaney. Also running for Slaney was Peter Ryan, Declan Ivers, Gary Murphy, Noel Kelly and Enda Waters who all ran brilliantly.

Next race is the Senior Road Race next Friday 18th May in Murrintown hosted by Wexford Marathon Club and this is also part of the Slaney Olympic Summer League Series. Prizes for first and second Slaney Man and Woman.
