Our annual club 10K fundraiser for Slaney Olympic Development Fund was held today in Enniscorthy in crisp conditions with only a few light showers. The race was organised under the watchful eye of Race Director Jane Porter, whilst Chief Marshall was new Club Chairman Jessie O Connor.
The race was off at noon with the race start just above Mr Price in Clonhaston. A total of 462 runner started with a staggering 68 members from the club taking part. The race was won by Dublin man Killian Mooney from DSD in 30.56 and the Ladies race was won by Olympic hopeful Lizzie Lee from Cork in 33.00.
First Slaney man home was Farmer Monaghan in 34.08 and first lady for the club was Julie Kirwan in 40.32 who was also 4th lady home and Catherine Murphy was 5th lady home. The ladies team of Julie Kirwan, Catherine Murphy, Emily O Connor and Kelly Long were the winning ladies team. Whilst Farmer Monaghan, Billy Reck, Kevin Murphy and David Kehoe won the men’s second team prize. Also winning for the club today was Farmer Monaghan 0/40, Kevin Murphy 0/50 and Annis Kehoe 0/60 category.
