The opening race of the Donohoe’s Skoda Summer League  kicked off with the traditional opening race of the One Mile Dash on the Old Dublin Road in Enniscorthy.  The hot weather certainly didnt cool down any of the runners with the first four home within 5 seconds of each other and all under the 5 minute mile.  United Striders were first and second, John McGrath first in 4.50, followed by Aidan Rogers in 4.53.  Farmer Monaghan was the first Slaney man home in 4.54 in third place  and with Bobby Redmond hot on his heels in 4.55.  Kelly Long won the women’s race in a fantastic time of 6.02, with Slaney’s Vanessa MsShane  just behind in 6.04.

81 runners in total took part, with members being placed on teams based on their time, Summer League Teams will be posted up later.

Next race is the The Still 5 Mile Road Race and Race Director is Tracy Kavanagh.  If you are unable to run due to illness or injury and are part of a team, this year if you marshall for a Summer League race, you will be counted as having raced and a score awarded for your team.
