The County Senior Road Race was hosted this year in Ferns by SBR. The route was the usual Mick Murphy course, starting and finishing at The Square in Ferns. The Ladies Race was a 5K loop and started at 2 o clock with 40 runners in total with Slaney dominating the start line once again with a field of 19 runners. First home for the ladies was Emily O Connor in 6th place in 19.47 and together with Kelly Long, Vanessa McShane and Mary Gorham secured Team Silver for the club.
Next up was the Mens 10k race which consisted of two laps of the course. Slaney Olympic’s Ger Forde took control of the race from early on, but had to retire after the first lap due to illness. First home for the club was Kevin Murphy in 3rd place winning an individual Bronze medal and helping to secure Team Silver for the club together with David Kehoe, Dave Barron and Mick Jordan.
Well done and thank you to everyone who ran today and took part.
