The Slaney Olympic Summer League continued this evening with a 7k road race in Camross, Race Directors were Lar and Bridget Doyle. The recent spell of fine weather brought out a large crowd of both runners and walkers with 75 people in total starting the race. The looped course started just outside the village and finished at the famous Camross Ballroom, refreshments after were in Rochfords Lounge.
Farmer Monaghan continued his winning streak coming home first in 23.51 and first Slaney man home was Brian Maher in 25.16 and he was also second across the line. Catherine Murphy was the first Lady home in 29.31 with Kelly Long first Slaney Lady home in 31.30. Prize winners were Joe O Regan and Mike Banville.
Many thanks to everyone again who helped make this a success. Next race in the Summer League is the Monageer 5K, Friday 21st August, race starts at 7.30.
