There was a good contingent of Slaney Olympic runners competing on Sunday in the Wexford Half Marathon and 10K.
Dave Barron had a terrific run in the half marathon finishing a very close second in a time of 1.16.10. He led the race and was comfortably ahead of his nearest rival, Mark O’Shea with about a kilometre to go but was just beaten into second place on the line.
Second man home for the club was Mick Finn in 1.25.55 with Neil Hudson third in 1.31.38. Next came John O’Sullivan in 1.32.10 followed by John O’Connor in 1.38.34. Mairead Kehoe and Deirdre Kavanagh finished together in 2.05.
In the 10K Seamus Jordan was first home in 47.21 followed closely by Martina O’Sullivan in 47.43. Third was Sabina Sweeney in a personal best time of 50.23. Well done also to Helena Browne (52.57), Marie Chapman (52.30), Stephanie Colfer (PB 54.01), Danielle Kearns (PB 57.01) and Lynda Kinsella (58.23).
