The seventh race in the Slaney Olympic AC Summer handicap league took place last Friday in damp foggy conditions in Taghmon.
The 10K course started outside the GAA complex with an initial climb up through the village before flattening out to give a fairly flat run around the rest of the course finishing with a lap around the walking track surrounding the GAA pitch.
Paul Gibbons of SBR was once again first man home completing the course in 34.41. Second was Kevin Murphy in 34.59 with Myles Gibbons third in 35.08. First Slaney Olympian was Martin Monaghan in 4th place.
First lady home was Maria Griffen of St Josephs in 38.36 followed by Catherine Murphy (SO) in 41.42. Mary Doolen (St Josephs) was 3rd in 43.18. Full results below.
Afterwards runners, helpers and supporters retired to the GAA club for refreshments and prize giving. Well done to race directors Lar Doyle and Maurice Whitty.
